Burns Night Celebration
Thurrock Yacht Club
On one of the coldest nights of the winter members of Thurrock Yacht Club sat down to a traditional Burns Night supper. As the soup course was served the first flakes of snow began to fall outside. Many of those present were wearing full kilts and splendid they looked. All the traditional ceremonies were followed including music from a lone piper*. Having toasted the haggis with a single malt the evening took on a warm and mellow feel contrasted by the raging blizzard outside.
This was an excellent evening, well done to all who contributed to its success.
This event raised £216 towards the work of the RNLI.
(*Not that we needed more than one, I am just a romantic. ...Ed)
