Christmas Card Sale
Chestnut Farm, South Ockendon
This was our first event at this delightful family run garden centre and our hosts, Jason and Donna Price, made us most welcome. The weather was reasonable following several days of rain.
A number of our supporters, both new and old, dropped in during the day to say hello so all things considered a successful event.
A special thanks to our friends at "Eurographics" in Aveley for producing the graphics on our recently donated Life Bouy.

Coffee Morning
Finally we managed some good weather for this event having had two successive years of rain. Our hosts Len and Jose Buttle had once again tended their lovely garden to perfection. Although the attendance was slightly down on previous years the nice weather and tranquil setting encouraged everyone to spend more.
This event raised £1,151.50 for the RNLI (an increase on last year).
Many thanks to all who contributed to this event and especially our hosts Len and Jose.
(Our hosts have finally decided to retire after many years of staging this event so we need to find a new venue (in Thurrock).
If you could help please contact us ..........Ed)

Girl Guides Centenary Fun Day
The branch were invited to attend this event at Orsett showground to celebrate the Centenary year of the Girl Guide movement.
The weather was excellent and there was plenty to keep the youngsters entertained with circus workshops, dog display teams and a freefall parachute display.
We were joined on this occasion by our education specialists who provided some interactive (and informative) games including the ever popular dressing up as lifeboat crew.

Thurrock Cycle Marathon
Three members of the branch joined approximately 500 other cycling enthusiasts in this annual fundraising event which started and finished at Blackshots Lane, Grays. The event was delayed by several minutes due to the sheer number of competitors registering to take part.
Our recently elected Mayor Cllr. Anne Cheale started the race by cutting a ribbon and presented medals to everyone upon completion of the course.
Many thousands of pounds will have been raised by this event for a number of charities including the RNLI

This event for teams of two seeks to catch as many species of fish during the year and any shortfall is penalised financially, the penalties are donated to the RNLI.
(Good luck guys and "Tight Lines" for this years competition....Ed)

The Branch held its annual Dinner Dance recently at Top Meadow Golf Club which is a new venue to us.
Ninety five branch members and special guests including the Mayor Cllr. Maureen Pearce sat down to an excellent meal in beautiful surroundings.
The evening was rounded off with a raffle and musical entertainment was provided by our resident musicians, a talented duo called "Pulse" .
This very enjoyable event raised over £1500 towards the work of the RNLI.
